This is a really great character design, but arms in the first two poses puts the character in odd pose, the blast of shadow in the first pose looks like a blended mess, and the background is good but it causes a unharmonitized clash with the character that I found distracting. It is obvious that you will improve on your anatomy, but i suggest for the blast go to a separate layer use a line tool straight, point at the target blur only the edges of the blast, or use the blender on the edges and especially at the point toward the target and this is optional lower opacity. For the background use a solid colour I suggest blue to compliment the colour of the character. Other then that it is a wonderful character, with great features.
